This is an exciting time to be joining the Endoscopy Unit at the Dudley Group of Hospitals. We have a JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit which has recently undergone expansion & now includes 5 endoscopy procedure rooms, with a separate room in radiology for Fluroscopy assisted procedures. We are further expanding into a Community Diagnostics Centre based at the Corbett Hospital site where we will be undertaking diagnostics & additional services such as cytosponge & Trans-nasal Endoscopy
We require 2 ENP's to support the set up of our community diagnostics services. We are seeking experienced, highly motivated trained Nurse Endoscopists, who have completed their competency & training set out by the BSG/HEE allowing them to work independently & autonomously. The successful applicants will take a lead role in the advanced clinical assessment & treatment of patients within Gastroenterology & Endoscopy Directorates. You will be integral members of the Gastroenterology & Endoscopy service, working closely alongside the Endoscopy Nursing Team, Endoscopists, & Decontamination Team, ensuring our patients receive a high quality of safe, compassionate & effective care during their Endoscopy Journey. You will join a well-established team sharing knowledge & supporting trainee ENPs & registrars

Main duties of the job
As part of the Team, you will help to maintain the JAG Gold Standards for Endoscopy Services, & retain our annual Accreditation
The Endoscopy Nurse Practitioner will work as part of the current ENP team to support the Gastroenterology & Surgical clinical colleagues in clinical endoscopy procedures in the Endoscopy Unit. This will include upper and lower procedures (including colonoscopy), & wireless capsule reading & bowel cancer screening depending on experience.The post-holder will be expected to facilitate IDA clinics & pre-assessment clinics on a rotational basis. The post holder will attend cross-speciality meetings, including upper & lower GI MDT, Endoscopy User group, & directorate governance meetings as required.
The post holder will also assist the triumvirate team in providing leadership to staff within the department.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- 1st Level Registered Nurse
- Educated to Degree Level
- JAG accredited qualification in gastroscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, including therapeutic intervention (polypectomy). PLEASE NOTE working towards this qualification would be considered Trainee ENP
Desirable criteria
- Masters degree or equivalent
- Non-medical Prescriber (V300)
- Able to perform colonoscopy
- Able to read Wireless Capsules (WCE)
Knowledge and Training
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and Training Evidence of postgraduate study and continuous portfolio
- Evidence of Professional Development
- Evidence of teaching (including preceptorship)
- Competence in the use of diathermy (ERBE) with an understanding of health and safety for yourself, patients and staff
- Cannulation, Venepuncture and IV medication administration
- Knowledge and understanding of JAG and GRS accreditation requirements
Desirable criteria
- Advanced Communication Skills course
- Train the Trainer Endoscopist course
- Ability to undertake insertion of Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy tubes (PEG)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience within Gastroenterology / Endoscopy
- Evidence in Endoscopy at a senior level
- Evidence in Endoscopy at a senior level Experience of delivering outpatient provision (clinic/nurse-led) inclusive of new patients/follow-ups and rapid access criteria
Desirable criteria
- Previous Clinical Nurse Specialist experience
