Sister/Charge Nurse: Major Revision & Bone Infection Service

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital  is a regional Major Revision Centre.  This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join this  growing  Major Revision and Bone Infection specialist service.

The team are the main point of contact for patients, consultants and the wider region, offering support and specialist advice.

The successful applicant will work as part of a wider Multi Disciplinary Team , supporting in-patient and outpatient care for patients undergoing revision arthroplasty surgery and with chronic infection.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder, working with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist, will be responsible for providing specialist knowledge and advice, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues relating to the management of the patient group. They will implement effective care of patients under the care of the major revision hip/knee and Bone Infection Service. Utilise and develop their skills across a variety of settings, working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration Diploma/Degree level nursing qualification Willingness to complete post-graduate orthopaedic nursing course. Recognised teaching qualification Evidence of continued professional development

  • Post Registration training/qualification relevant to the specialty

Experience

  • Significant post registration band 5 experience in an acute surgical setting Worked as a member of an MDT. Involvement in Audit Evidence of ability to work autonomously. Evidence of ability to recognise complex situations and take appropriate actions.

  • Experience in managing patients with bone infection. Orthopaedic surgery experience

Knowledge

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organisational skills Clinical skills competence- including Performance of Phlebotomy, Cannulation, ECG.
