Job overview

There will be strong leadership in the Triage, Day Assessment Unit and Fetal Medicine Unit to ensure the highest possible care standards, and to ensure the monitoring and reporting of care, with family and staff feedback. There will be excellent team working with the multidisciplinary team, the other areas of Maternity, our Neonatal Unit team and the wider Division of Women’s, the LMS and ICS.

Main duties of the job

Be a highly visible member of the senior team based in the clinical area.
Ensure daily operation flow and reporting, liaising with the network units as appropriate.
To be an expert and credible midwife, delivering care and a clinical role model. 
To work closely with the Safeguarding Team and provide support and guidance to staff.
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the midwifery staff within the service, dealing with issues as they arise. 
To manage your own time effectively with an appropriate balance between management and clinical duties. 
To liaise with external stake holders to ensure that women are cared for in the right place at the right time. 
To be responsible for always maintaining the quality of the clinical environment. 
To monitor and work within allocated resources and support the staff to ensure there is effective budget management and control. 
To foster a positive working relationship with our commissioning partners. 
To contribute to the Maternity Service annual business planning and contracting process. 
Monitor and ensure staffing levels are optimal and prepare daily and strategic reports for the Workforce meetings and NHSE/I, using the trust informatics systems. 
Ensure that the E-roster KPIs are met and reported on and demonstrate competence in use of the E-roster and ESR. 
To ensure that staff appraisals are managed and monitored. 
Ensure Sickness Absence monitoring is completed and reported. 
To ensure staff and service user health and safety.

  • Honours level degree in Midwifery or equivalent
