An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional nurse leader to join the Womens Division, Gynaecology directorate with a specific focus on patient quality, safety and standards of care to deliver a good patient experience.
The Gynaecology Directorate provides extensive services across 19 sub-specialties including:
• Operating theatres for elective and emergency gynaecology and obstetrics
• Dedicated abortion care service for complex termination of pregnancy
• Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries (OASIS) service
• Hysteroscopy and colposcopy suite
• Urogynaecology
• Outpatient cystoscopy service.
• General gynaecology outpatients including the longest established Menopause clinic in the UK.
• Specialist pain/endometriosis clinics.
• Oncology services at unit level to include management of pre-invasive disease of the genital tract through rapid referral two-week clinic
• A hyperemesis daycentre and outpatient management of miscarriage service is also provided in the early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU) which is available seven days a week.
• Nurse led Pre-Assessment clinics.
You will be a key member of the Gynaecological Directorate working alongside the Clinical Service Lead and Service manager as part of a triumvirate team.

Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Nursing and Midwifery/Head of Midwifery the post holder will lead on the following key aspects:
Professional and operational leadership
Clinical Governance and quality
Nursing/AHP workforce planning
Service Development
Managing nursing/AHP performance

A proven track record of innovation and success in senior operational and clinical management roles is essential, including high levels of engagement with staff and external partners.
You will be accountable for the professional development of nursing staff. You will provide professional leadership that will enable, influence, negotiate and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to improve patient care and nurse leadership.
As a very senior nurse, you will work with the Trust senior leadership team to ensure that professional standards are maintained and that the organisation fulfils in total, its mandatory responsibilities concerning safety, risk and governance.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track record and substantial experience in the care of patients and able to demonstrate dynamic, inspirational and compassionate leadership skills to help us meet the local and national challenges.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Relevant health care degree at Hons level
- Relevant management experience
- Evidence of study at Master’s level (7), or commitment to achieve
- Evidence of on-going professional development
KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Extensive and current operational management experience in a senior nurse leadership position (8a or above), including staff, budgetary and performance management
- Extensive and current operational experience of managing clinical risk and governance pathways and compliance monitoring
- Experience of nursing and midwifery clinical governance function.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical risk and governance operational issues in an acute setting
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of delivering improvements in clinical performance and standards
- Excellent understanding of the evolving NHS environment
- Advanced knowledge & understanding of current nursing or midwifery policy & practice issues.
- Expert knowledge of the Governance and Risk frameworks required to deliver safe, high quality clinical care
PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Current knowledge in clinical care provision
- Fully conversant with Microsoft office
- Proven ability to produce clear, accurate, written and verbal reports.
- Flexibility in approach and attitude, with proven ability in prioritising workload in the face of competing demands
- Fully conversant with Health Roster programmes
PERSONAL SKILLS / ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES
