Fantastic opportunity has risen for an experienced Mental Health or Learning Disability nurses to join the Community Mental Health team as a Band 6 CPN here at HMP Birmingham

A Band 6 Nursing post is in our busy mental health team is now available at HMP Birmingham, which is an Adult Category B prison with a diverse range of nursing needs. HMP Birmingham currently holds a maximum of 970 prisoners, with a combination of both sentenced and remand Adult males.

This brings a great opportunity to embrace change and embed culture. The role will be an experience like no other, requiring a diverse mixed nursing skills background and attracts nurses from a range of professional specialist areas, such as Assertive Outreach and Forensic Services.  

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To provide community mental health nursing which contributes to the wider mental health services that are on offer to the mentally ill within HMP Birmingham prison, particularly for those experiencing serious and enduring mental illness, symptoms of personality disorder and acute phases of illness. This also includes needs –led interventions, referrals and liaison with other agencies both within and external of the prison environment.

To provide risk assessment and care management plans that are intended to identify and predict factors that will minimise or prevent harm to both staff and other prisoners.

To ensure effective and integrated working with prison staff and other MDT professionals working within the prison establishment, i.e. social care providers, chaplaincy and specialist services including probation, forensic mental health services and drug workers.
