Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse - Hopkins Ward (Urology Elective & Emergency ward)

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our 21 bedded Hopkins ward for a caring, highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Staff Nurse.

We care for elective Urology admissions in a fast-paced environment and pride ourselves in striving for excellence in patient experience but also emergency admissions through A&E and our Urology clinic. 

We care for a variety of patients undergoing major and minor surgery, and adopt a strong focus on patient safety.

We care for urology patients and have an excellent working relationship with the multi-professional teams with the collective aim of providing excellent patient care.

We have multi-specialty ward rounds daily and host a variety of clinicians engaged in teaching and education ensuring plenty of learning opportunities for nursing staff.

Your leadership will contribute to a team mission to deliver person-centred care with kindness and respect, in line with our hospital values.

Main duties of the job

You must be a Registered Nurse with surgical experience. Your development within the new role will be supported by a dedicated mentor and team leader who will ensure you have the support and guidance you require.

An integral part of the role will be to implement change and patient improvement within the ward environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills and build on your already excellent knowledge and skills base.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work as a skilled practitioner and be responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of the client group in your clinical area.

To ensure the smooth running of the ward/department in the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse and provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
