West Ward Sister/Charge Nurse

The post-holder will work as an expert practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of Haematology patients.

The post holder will work as an expert in all aspects of Haematology services, the ward sister/charge nurse will need to work in accordance with and meet the requirements of the relevant national measures and guidance.

The post hold will support the dawn service in the absence of the Dawn CNS.

The post holder will have an experience in Haematology and deliver SACT.

The post-holder displays excellent communication and leadership skills and is responsible for the day-to-day line management of the team for which he/she is responsible.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  1. Manage the day to day running of the Haematology Day unit, being a focal point of contact for clinical and non- clinical management issues. Be responsible for the smooth running of the unit mindful of issues related to Health and Safety, and the management of risk.
  2.     Leads the Clinical nursing service in the Haematology Day Unit, you will practice as an expert in Haematology nursing and chemotherapy administration, there will be responsibility for the coordination and organization of the service and patient treatment.
  3.  Demonstrate specialist expertise and professional knowledge acquired through post registration academic, clinical, leadership and management development. Works as a role model for professional practice. 
  4.     Work with Lead Nurse/Matron, utilizing the umbrella of Clinical Governance to maintain/improve and develop high standards of patient care. Place the patient’s experience at the core of service delivery. Monitor and audit the quality of care through a range of strategies, including risk management, incident reporting, complaints, research and effectiveness monitoring, and clinical audit. 
  5.    To be aware of ethical issues in relation to Haematology and palliative care and willing to act as the advocate for the patient when appropriate. 
  6.  To establish close liaison and communication with and between all disciplines involved in the care of Haematology patients and their families.
