Senior Staff Nurse - Renal Vascular Access/Home Haemodialysis

The post holder works as a skilled practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of a patient-focused programme of care, which addresses the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of the client group in his/ her caseload. The post holder provides clinical leadership to nursing and support staff. 

Main duties of the job

Support the Renal Vascular Access Sister in leading the team to deliver the teams objectives.  In the absence of the Renal Vascular Access Sister, be responsible for ensuring that all patients in the caseload receive safe, competent nursing care.   Manage the caseload for which he/ she is responsible, working flexibly to support other/ more junior colleagues on a day-to-day basis.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • 6 years post qualification of which 4 years must be in speciality
  • Demonstrates ability to place patient and family at centre of care
Desirable criteria
  • Must have recent clinical experience in related speciality area.
  • Excellent personal and communication skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse and ENB 136 or equivalent
  • Evidence of Leadership, management and speciality development
Desirable criteria
  • Good facilitation/ presentation, teaching and assessing skills
