Job overview

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Skin team as Band 6 - Support Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated nurse to join this busy service. The nurse will have the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of skin cancer management in secondary care and develop key CNS skills in an environment supported by an experienced nursing team.

Main duties of the job

To support the symptomatic skin clinical services in providing supportive care for patients with skin cancer, their relatives and carers, from diagnosis, throughout treatment, survivorship pathways, and metastatic disease.

To provide a high standard of care to patients who attend for treatment and supportive care.

The postholder will be expected to work closely with the Skin Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Skin Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), and the Acute Oncology team, in order to implement National Guidance, and ensure patients receive the best care.

To be part of an established, integrated cancer and palliative care service that influences care by specialist practice, encompassing advanced clinical practice, education, and evidence based learning.

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Adult on the NMC Register • Evidence of post registration CPD/ Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or • professional knowledge supplemented by specialist • experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7 • Recognised mentorship course
Desirable criteria
  • • Demonstrate leadership qualities. • Counselling skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Adult on the NMC Register • Evidence of post registration CP• Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC • Significant post registration experience with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching / assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting. • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary and cross agency work environment • Has understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding in relation to the role applied forD/ Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or • professional knowledge supplemented by specialist • experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7 • Recognised mentorship course
