Job overview
The Bladder and Bowel Service is a multi-professional service working across BNSSG. Adults are seen in clinics to diagnose and treat continence or other bladder and bowel problems.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and competent clinician with an interest in continence care, training will be available for all aspects of the role for clinicians who demonstrate the potential to fulfil the position.
We deliver community Bladder and Bowel Services, through specialist advice and guidance, teach self-management strategies through face to face clinics and other media means to all professionals, patients and members of the public. Provide education, training and workforce planning to Sirona staff and external partners, working with colleagues across BNSSG and support the urology and colorectal formulary. The service also manages the contract for the continence products home delivery service
This role will have a focus on the services provided within residential homes, and to monitor and advise nursing home colleagues.
Current working hours of the service: 8 - 5 pm, 5 days a week (The service specification however asks for the service to extend their core hours and develop 7 day working).
· Teams are based across several locations within BNSSG, with a variety of clinic bases across the region.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist advice and support on promotion of continence and management of incontinence.
You will have the ability to assist the Specialist Clinicians, Clinical Team Leaders and Administration Team in management of the Bladder and Bowel caseload (adult).
Be required to work autonomously in care homes, clinics and peoples own homes.
You will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of continence care that is research and evidence based ensuring a patient centred service which incorporates appropriate ethical and moral dimensions of practice.
Be competent in or willing to train to become competent in; bladder scanning, bladder emptying techniques, bowel management techniques.
You will also have the responsibility of managing the process for continence products in accordance with continence assessments.
Supporting staff within the team and wider community to enable people to self-manage their presenting condition and provide an outcome focused intention to care, treatment and improvement.
Work within a multi-disciplinary team, provide integrated skills and share knowledge.
Take every opportunity to support and educate patients and their carers to promote independence and good health.
Support, assess, supervise and act as a role model to other learners.
Maintain accurate, informative and legal records of all interventions in accordance with policy.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
