SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - CLINICAL
1. To undertake as delegated by School Nurse Band 6 school health surveillance, screening tests/health interviews in accordance with the Healthy Child Wales Programme.
2. Participate in the prevention and control of outbreaks of infectious disease. Participate in administration of immunisation, following policies and procedures.
3. Provide support and advice to families regarding the health and welfare of their child.
4. Undertake home visits delegated by School Nurse Band 6 as required taking account of the Health Board Lone Worker Policy.
5. Undertake health promotion activities in a variety of settings as delegated by School Nurse Band 6.
6. To be knowledgeable of the effects of the (chronic condition) on the child and carers.
7. Assisting/supporting School Nurse Band 6 in identifying health needs of identified target area.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse to become part of the School Nursing Service in the Rhyl area, as a member of the school nurse team which has responsibility for the health needs of the children and young people in a designated area
The School Staff Nurse will have delegated responsibility for allocated schools/workload.
It will involve undertaking immunisation programmes, health assessments, health promotion both within the community and schools. It will also involve acting in accordance with local Safeguarding procedures and the All Wales Child Protection procedures.
