Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Band 7 Senior Sister / Charge Nurse to join our Cardiovascular ward (D3) within the Cardiovascular and Thoracic care group for a 1 year secondment to cover maternity leave. D3 is a 22 bedded ward specialising in cardiac surgery, cardiology and TAVI care and includes a dedicated 6 bedded high observation bay.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be expected to promote the delivery of a high standard of patient-centred care. With the support of the Matron you will analyse, monitor, and implement actions that ensure the service delivery is safe and effective in line with the Trust values. You will be responsible for the daily operational management and service delivery process within the department, along with the line management and development of the nursing team. You will ensure the smooth running of the unit, working as a key decision maker alongside the multi professional team, leading on aspects of clinical care and focusing on patient safety, experience, and quality assurance frameworks.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be educated to a degree level with evidence of on-going education. They must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients and the public, whilst also possessing the ability to ensure robust clinical operational demands are met. The varied and complex case mix plus a commitment to role development in a visionary manner makes this an excellent opportunity.

- 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register
- Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor
- Degree or working towards
- Completion of appropriate specialty Course
- Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice. Supporting a range of learners in practice Supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
- Extensive experience in specialty to include considerable experience at Band 6 level
