Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist

Due to promotion in the service, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and dedicated clinical nurse join the haematology team at The Christie Hospital.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Haematology Nurse to join our CNS team. We require the post holder to have experience within a Haematology setting. The role will involve providing advice, care and support to patients and families who attend our outpatient, Ambulatory and Palatine Treatment Centre. You will co-ordinate patient care and act as a key worker for your own patient case load. Working hours are Monday -Friday and cross cover within the Haematology CNS team is a requirement for this post.
The CNS post holder will work within the busy and dynamic team providing exceptional care, supporting both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The applicant should have a wide range of haematology experience to be able to support the wide haematology service across all disease groups.

To provide a comprehensive service for patients with acute and chronic malignant haematological disorders. You will provide expert care, advice and support to patients receiving treatment on in-patient and out-patient basis and to their families and as a resource to other staff.
This roles includes clinical duties and supporting the needs of the patients and their families. You will also work closely and support the Haematology Consultants and CNS & ACP team

1) Provide evidence based individualized patient care according to patients changing healthcare needs, through holistic needs assessment ( HNA )
2) Act as an associate `Keyworker` for a clinical case load, working to support the lead haematology clinical nurse specialist by providing the co-ordination of patient care. Will be responsible for allocated disease groups and may change dependent on service need.
3) Support the haematology team to assess patient`s information needs and provide relevant information to meet those needs, ensuring the focus is on the promotion of health as well as illness.
4) Contribute to the collection of quantitive and qualitative data, utilizing this data by providing written reports when required which provide evidence of productivity, outcomes and quality.
5) Actively integrates research, theory and practice by undertaking surveys or audits as necessary.
6) Participates in the development of trust policy and clinical guidelines within haematology. Ensures patient information documents are produced in a timely manner.
7) Develops skills in advanced communication for all aspects of patient assessment, care and support.
8) Provide nurse led bone marrow clinic and cross- cover in times of annual leave or absence for existing haematology clinical nurse specialist.
9) Provide support and cross cover if required by the wider nursing team.
10) Actively participates in multi- professional meetings, acting as the patient advocate and representing nursing views.

1)Support the nursing contribution to service development, ensuring the pursuit of excellence in care
2) Contribute to the identification of service goals and appreciates how these link with performance targets and quality indicators.
3) Ensure the provision of care is in accordance with The Christie NHS Trust policy and procedures guidelines
4) Work with the Senior Haematology CNS to contribute to annual reports and work plan development.
5) Promote patient centred services for patients affected by cancer and work in collaboration with allied health professionals in the trust and in the community
