An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Endoscopy Staff Nurse to join our busy Endoscopy Team.
Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) Endoscopy service is based over 2 sites (MKUH and MKUH White House diagnostic Centre (WHDC)) The unit are purpose built to support outpatient and inpatient endoscopic procedures. It consists of four Endoscopy theatres at MKUH, one of which has the facilities to undertake X- ray screening and laser procedures and two Endoscopy theatres at WHDC. The successful candidate will be expected to work across both sites.
Our services include an ever-increasing number of specialised therapeutic and diagnostic procedures which require a high level of technical capability and a passion for problem solving.
The applicant does not require previous endoscopy experience as all training will be given however, a NMC registration is vital for this role and only applicants with a valid NMC registration, will be considered for this role.

Main duties of the job
The main responsibility of this post will be to work as the registered Nurse alongside our Endoscopists, Nurse Associates and Health Care Assists to delivering high level care to patients in all areas of the unit, this role is highly technical as you will be working with state-of-the-art endoscopic equipment which helps to diagnose, assess, and treat patients with the Gastrointestinal, Respiratory and Urology conditions. This can be a physically demanding and challenging role but is very rewarding for the right candidate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide and maintain safe, high-quality standards of nursing care as part of the endoscopy team.
To provide effective, professional, and managerial leadership to staff in the absence of the Endoscopy Sister/Charge Nurse and/or Senior Staff Nurse and to be the Endoscopy representative if the Endoscopy Sister/Charge Nurse and/or Senior Staff Nurse are unavailable.
To ensure that all lines of communication are identified and used effectively; to maintain a high standard of nursing care within the framework of the Trust policies.
The post holder will be expected to be able to work in all areas of endoscopy after training.
To work creatively to develop practice and new ways of working in collaboration with Senior Staff and the Multidisciplinary Team.
To be an effective team member.
