Trosolwg o'r swydd

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust was created on 1st October 2007, from merging St Mary’s NHS Trust and Hammersmith Hospital NHS Trust and integrating with Imperial College London, Faculty of Medicine. This resulted in the formation of the largest NHS Trust in the country and the establishment of the UK’s first Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC).

We have a large, active portfolio of paediatric research studies and a dedicated team of staff based within our purpose-built Children’s Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) at St Mary’s Hospital. We have also recently joined forces with the adult research team based on the Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF) at Hammersmith Hospital. There has been a significant expansion of clinical research in all areas of paediatrics including infection detection, prevention and treatment.

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Research Nurse on a fixed-term contract for one year as maternity cover for one of our existing staff.

The successful post-holder will need to be a qualified nurse (preferably paediatric trained or with substantial paediatric nursing experience) with some clinical research trial experience and GCP certification. It is also essential for the post-holder to have knowledge of dealing with anaphylaxis, as they will be supporting the existing food allergy and immunology studies on the Children’s Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) and some respiratory studies. Some experience with paediatric spirometry would be beneficial but not essential.

As this is a research nurse role, it will involve assessing and managing care pathways for our research participants as well as recruitment, education and monitoring of research subjects; providing support for research participants and their families; and the accurate collection and documentation of data. Successful applicants will work collaboratively with other multidisciplinary teams in the management of the caseload of research participants and act as a knowledgeable resource for staff, researchers and research participants. A working knowledge of and compliance with local, national and international research regulations will be necessary for this role.

This post will suit enthusiastic individuals, looking to start and build a career in research particularly in the field of childhood food allergy and asthma. The successful candidate will be part of a first class team with a track-record for delivering high quality paediatric studies within the CCRF and Imperial Trust. The role is fully supported, with training provided to ensure patient safety and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) to the highest level of excellence.

The post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
