Job overview

Our Trauma and Orthopaedic service is a leading National Trauma Centre, supported by a large team of specialist experts. 

As part of our ever expanding and evolving service we are looking for highly motivated nurses to join the team within our Orthogeriatric step-down ward. Brooke ward is an 18 bedded unit based at Princess Anne Hospital stepdown Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward that provide a service for patients who require continual input from nursing and therapy to ensure a safe discharge from hospital. This includes the whole team continuing to support our patient with mobility, safe transfers and activities with daily living whilst waiting to be discharged into the community.

If you are dedicated and passionate about providing fantastic patient care then this ward will give you great job satisfaction as you prepare patients for discharge or ongoing therapy.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
  • Understanding of personal accountability
  • Knowledge of own role within the team
  • Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
  • Awareness of evidence-based practice
  • Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
  • Evidence of on-going personal development
  • Able to use initiative
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of recent study
  • Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
  • Teaching experience
