Job overview

The Sunflower Suite outpatient department at Queens Hospital BHRUT requires an  enthusiatic highly motivated full time Band 7 charge nurse who has extensive experience in administering Systemic anti cancer treatment( SACT) and proven experience in a leadership role. This role will include direct leadership for shifts as well as providing HR management of issues( not exhaustive ) to include E-roster performance and sickness management.
 
The post holder will also be required to lead on innovation and development within SACT including confirming patients treatments with pharmacy pre SACT counselling and other initiatives. This role is in close conjunction with Haem/Onc OPD Senior sister to develop and deliver SACT treatment and the expectation is a close working relationship with shared goals. The Sunflower Suite  is  operational Monday-Friday inclusive 08.00-20.00 and Saturday 09.00-17.00,the successful post holder would be expected to work hours to cover this service. Both malignant and non malignant haeamatology and oncology patients attend the department as both planned and emergency attendance. BHRUT is a large cross-site organisation encompassing Queens hospital in Romford and King george hospital in Ilford.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing effective nursing leadership to manage and co-ordinate patient activity, staffing and finance within Sunflower Suite outpatient service. 

 To contribute to the day to day running and development of the service through promotion, adaptation and development of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence-based practice and current research.

We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
