Job overview

Are you a motivated and enthusiastic NMC-registered nurse with a passion for TB care? We're looking for a dedicated professional to join our TB team. While experience in TB care is preferred, a willingness to learn and grow in this field is essential.

As a TB nurse, you will be part of a tri-site service covering Charing Cross, Hammersmith, and St Mary’s Hospitals, providing care for both in-patients and outpatients. Additionally, we deliver TB healthcare at HMP Wormwood Scrubs.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a designated caseload of adult and paediatric patients.
  • Collaborate with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), pan London Find & Treat services, and other TB services across London.
  • Deliver patient-focused care in accordance with the National Collaborative TB Strategy and TB NICE guidelines.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist nurse led TB services Trust wide to minimise/reduce the impact of TB
  • To provide delegated specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets.
  • The post holder will provide specialist TB nursing care and support and deputise for their line manager in the management of their clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings.
  •  To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care.

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse
  • Degree level learning or willingness to work towards
  • SLICE or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience, at senior Band 5 level in the community, medicine, respiratory, HIV, Infectious Diseases or TB
  • Experience of multi professional working
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and children including those experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health and immigration problems
Desirable criteria
  • Able to supervise and manage junior staff

Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge of current professional nursing & health care issues
  • Knowledge of audit and research
  • Ability to compile complex written information
  • Teaching and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage difficult situations and effective problem solving skills
  • IT literate
