Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment/ fixed term contract. C2 is an acute ward which will enable you to gain skills within a haematology setting. We provide a high standard of care to 27 patients 24/7, 7 beds are dedicated to those receiving autologous stem cell transplants. You will work closely with the MDT to ensure the needs of our patients are met. You will develop a range of different skills and be able to improve your knowledge or gain knowledge whilst caring for patients undergoing treatment for their cancer as well as non malignant haematology conditions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We a looking for nursing staff who are fully flexible to come and work with us for a 12 month secondment/ fixed term contract. Cancer care overall has very high acuity, C2 will enable to gain skills to look after those acutely unwell patients. We are a 27 bedded haematology ward, 7 beds are dedicated to stem cell returns, you will be able to care for this patients. We have a high volume of elective activity for patients receiving SACT (systemic anti cancer treatment) i.e. immunotherapy and chemotherapy, you will gain skills to be able to care for these patients.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
  • Understanding of personal accountability
  • Knowledge of own role within the team
  • Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
  • Awareness of evidence-based practice
  • Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
  • Evidence of on-going personal development
  • Able to use initiative
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of recent study
  • Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
  • Teaching experience
