An excellent opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated nurse to join the Medication Safety and Governance team. In this brand-new role, you will work closely with the Trust Medication Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards for all aspects of medication handling and safe use.
 
The post holder will lead on quality improvement initiatives to support reducing harm from medication, making improvements to and educating nursing staff on all processes involved in ordering, supply and administration of medicines across the Trust.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital setting, with strong medicines management skills and a passion for improving quality whilst promoting safe use and handling of medicines.

The postholder is responsible for promoting medicines safety and governance in collaboration with the wider nursing and AHP specialities across the organisation.

With guidance and direction from the Medication Safety Officer the postholder will contribute to and implement the Medicines Assurance Programme and wider Medicines Safety Workplan. This will include working with AHPs, Lead and Senior Nurses and medical staff to promote understanding of medicines governance and safety and to share learning. 

The post holder will champion the safe management of medicines on all Trust sites. They will work with and communicate safe medication practices to staff, patients and carers in order to promote safe handling of medicines

The postholder will support the Medication Safety Officer, Matrons, Ward Managers, and the Head Pharmacist – Quality, Governance and Service Development in promoting safe and secure handling of medicines.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.

We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
