The Nuclear Medicine team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity within the rapidly growing role Radionuclide Therapy is playing in treatment of patients.
We require a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a good amount of experience in Radionuclide Therapy to lead a team to provide the safe therapeutic management of a defined patient caseload, acting as a key worker to co-ordinate and oversee therapeutic treatment and care on the department.

Within the department we have 2 specialised gamma cameras with additional software focussed on providing the best possible imaging for therapeutic procedures, a team full of enthusiasm and expertise at the highest level, as well as a history of being one of the biggest providers of Radionuclide therapies on the South coast.

The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in working with Radionuclides in their administration, disposal,
and safe handling.
A key aspect of the job role involves communicating not only with patients, but other members of staff ranging from Nuclear Medicine Radiographers/Technologists, Consultants, Administrative staff, other nursing staff and wider trust staff and so excellent communication skills are a must.
The role encompasses the responsibility of leading a team to provide the safe therapeutic management of a defined patient / client caseload. In particular this will involve delivering palliative treatment utilising Lutiteum-177 for Prostate and Neuroendocrine tumours (NET).
This will involve providing specialist nursing to include the delivery of bespoke radiation protection advice, education and support to patients as well as their carers, whether this be other healthcare professionals or relatives/close contacts.
The role also includes the responsibility to work within given provisions to manage waiting lists meeting local delivery and waiting time targets as well as the specific needs of individual service users.
The successful candidate can expect to work a shift pattern falling within Mon-Fri and 8am-6pm except for within exceptional circumstances. Flexible shift patterns within these core hours can be negotiated depending on the needs of the service.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

- Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
- Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master’s Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
- Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
- Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
- Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
- Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
- Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
- Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice
