As an integrated mental health, learning disability and community Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including:

•    Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.
•    Specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
•    Community physical health and well-being services for children and adults.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,000 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. Do you have experience of working at a band 5 level & have a commitment to working within in-patient Mental Health Services 

Are you a compassionate respectful team player who can offer effective clinical leadership and support to a team of registered nurses and nursing assistants who constantly strive to provide the best possible experience for our service users and carers?

Do you have excellent communication skills that would enable you to work within a challenging inpatient mental health unit?

We are committed to staff development and provide encouragement and support to staff to continue their lifelong learning. We are also passionate about the supervision process. You will be expected to fully engage in the process for yourself and provide direct line management and supervision for others.

The successful post holder will be expected to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week and both full and part time contracts are available.   

Kentmere is a 12 bedded mental health unit for those individuals with acute mental health needs 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will lead a team of registered nurses and nursing assistants in the delivery of mental health care. The post holder will promote the interests of service users and ensure that delegated nursing care is effectively implemented in a safe manner. The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using professional skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across professional boundaries and in unfamiliar situations. The post holder will use research, audit, enquiry and scholarship to plan, implement and evaluate concepts and strategies leading to improvements in care.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

  • • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RNMH)
  • • Preparation of mentors certificate, ENB 998, or equivalent
  • • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

  • • Experience of team building and practice development
  • • Thorough knowledge of the mental health act 1983
  • • An understanding of, and an ability to performance manage junior staff • Ability to conduct management supervision
  • • Demonstrates knowledge of ward manager responsibilities and capability to act in the role in the absence of same
