Job overview
The Endoscopy Service at Imperial Hospital NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, talented, passionate, and forward-thinking Nurse Endoscopist to join our team to join us in our growing service.
We have a busy and growing JAG-accredited department which continues to expand following the refurbishment and expansion of our site at Charing Cross Hospital.
We are seeking an experienced Nurse with a minimum of 2 years post JAG certification experience in upper and lower endoscopy, ideally with a non-medical prescribing qualification but an absence of this should not prevent you from applying.
You will be working cross-site at St Marys', Hammersmith Hospital, and Charing Cross. You will be a skilled communicator with a passion for patient care, education, and staff development.
You will place a high priority on maintaining a supportive and caring environment for patients and staff developing the highest standards of evidence-based practice and achieving key quality metrics.
Main duties of the job
This post is a dual role that has been specially designed for a clinical endoscopist with relevant experience bowel cancer screening.
As a Clinical Endoscopist, the post-holder will undertake diagnostic and therapeutic lower GI endoscopies, and will work with the MDT to ensure the development, management and delivery of a high quality endoscopy service. The post-holder is expected to undertake 5 service lists a week, and also support the service with clinical audits.

Education/ qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (level 1)
- Educated to postgraduate diploma/degree level or equivalent experience
- Train the trainers in endoscopy (upper and or lower)
Desirable criteria
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
- Management certificate or equivalent experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Up to date knowledge and experience in lower GI endoscopy
- Knowledge and experience of principles of administration of IV sedation and their reversal agents
- Experience in analysing and presenting data to a range of audiences
- Experience of deputising in a senior role
Desirable criteria
- Service improvement experience
- Experience in analysing and presenting data to a range of audiences
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Independent Upper and Lower GI colonoscopist, JAG accredited
- Technical ability to be able to learn to handle an endoscope and troubleshoot problems that may occur with the working of the instrument
- Ability to promote the contribution and impact of advanced level nursing across the organisation and wider healthcare system.
- Able to demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning through comprehensive patient assessments for risk factors and early signs of illness
- Excellent IT skills
