PIPE’s are specifically designed environments where staff members have additional training to help them develop an increased psychological understanding of their work. This understanding enables them to create an enhanced safe and supportive environment, which can facilitate the development of those who live there. They are designed to have a particular focus on the environment in which they operate; actively recognising the importance and quality of relationships and interactions. They aim to maximise learning opportunities within ‘ordinary’ living experiences and to approach these in a psychologically informed way, paying attention to interpersonal difficulties, for example, those issues that might be linked to personality disorder.

The PIPE model incorporates six core components, which are designed to support and develop individuals living and working in a PIPE. The successful candidate will lead in development and implementation of the agreed project plan to ensure delivery of these core PIPE components, working closely with the Probation Service PIPE AP Operational Lead (Approved Premises Manager). The Clinical Lead will provide teaching, training, and clinical supervision to staff at ERH PIPE AP to support their understanding and delivery of a psychologically informed service to female residents. The Clinical Lead will supervise and oversee the development and implementation of structured activities and socially creative sessions that form part of the PIPE model.
