Main duties of the job

As the Cardiac Theatre Team Leader, you will:

Be the clinical expert: Uphold and elevate the standards of patient care within our cardiac theatres, ensuring every patient receives the highest quality treatment.

Empower your team: Lead and inspire a diverse team of healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. You will guide your team in refining their knowledge, skills, and behaviours to achieve optimal performance.

Champion compliance: Ensure that our practices adhere to the most rigorous local, national, and international policies and guidelines, safeguarding the well-being of our patients and staff.

Exemplify professionalism: Serve as a role model for your team, embodying the values of our organization and cultivating a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your roles and responsibilities:

Lead and inspire: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading inter-professional teams in developing knowledge, ideas, and innovative work practices.

Clinical expertise and patient care: Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate personalized, patient-centred care, while acting as a clinical expert and mentor to colleagues.

Drive quality and safety: Lead on standard setting, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice and Trust policies.

Manage and develop your team: Line manage direct reports, including all aspects of recruitment, retention, performance, and create a supportive environment for learning and growth.

Resource management and service improvement: Coordinate resources to ensure safe and efficient patient care, actively identify and implement service improvements, and manage budgets effectively.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Registered ODP / nurse
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience
  • Experience at band 6 level
  • Provide evidence of Leading learning in practice
  • Provide evidence of Support colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
  • Provide evidence of Supporting /managing and supervision a range of learnings in practice
  • Aware of current NHS and professional issuess
  • Ability to network and build relationships within and across professions
  • Experience of developing nursing and allied health profession / perioperative practice
  • Current Cardiac Theatre Experience
  • Evidence of Formal Management Training
Desirable criteria
