An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and creative staff nurse to work on a busy female PICU in Chorley Hospital.

We are a 6 bedded female PICU, with a compact and committed staff team who all strive towards providing our service users with an excellent inpatient experience. We do this in part through our commitment to reducing restrictive practices, the use of activity on the ward and by providing the staff team access to a wide range of training and development opportunities. We are looking to employ an individual who can offer a commitment to effective teamwork as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team that delivers high quality person-centred care with a focus on recovery.

The position available will be suitable for both experienced and newly qualified nurses from either a mental health or learning disability background. Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will be an experienced or newly-qualified nurse working within a multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties. As a Staff Nurse within the team you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse and you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.

As a newly-qualified nurse, you will undertake a period of preceptorship overseen by a named Band 6 Nurse Specialist within your team and engage on the Trust’s excellent Preceptorship Programme. You will actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct. You are required to maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process.

 You will provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care given to service users.

You will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

You will be required to offer clinical and managerial leadership to junior Health Care Staff and Student Nurses as part of your role within the team.

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification. (RMN & RNLD) On-going registration with the NMC. Evidence of Continued Professional Development that supports clinical practice.

Knowledge

  • Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments. Can demonstrate a working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that this can cause to patients experiencing mental ill health.

Experience

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team structure. Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs.

An ability to understand how research and audits effect and benefit nursing practice.
