Surgical Care Practitioner - Cardiothoracic Surgery

What are we looking for?
Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner to join our Surgical Institute.
This is a full-time role with the following shift patterns: 07:30 – 20:30, 3 long working days per week between Monday – Friday and on-call requirements to cover 1 in 8 weekend services.

We are recruiting a Cardiothoracic trained Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP). The role will include clinical duties supporting the Heart Vascular Thoracic Institute (HVTI) surgery interventions and peri-operative care under the supervision of a consultant, alongside responsibilities for developing the team’s surgical skills and knowledge in HVTI surgery with opportunity to progress cross-specialty.
What will your duties include?

Actively participate in surgical procedures at the direction and/or instruction of the Consultant surgeon.

Develop research-based practice, quality assurance in line with the Care Standards Act 2000 and clinical audit.

The post holder will always be under the supervision and/or instruction of the consultant surgeon who has overall responsibility for the surgical care received by the patient.

Facilitate junior members of the team with their CPD, setting goals, facilitating training opportunities and mentoring as appropriate.

Participate in training and education with wider theatre team to further facilitate awareness of conversion of practices.
What we need from you?
-
Significant experience at a Surgical Care Practitioner level assisting surgeons through Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgeries, with experience in conduit harvesting, endoscopic vessel harvesting experience is preferable. This training can also be provided as part of the role and opportunity available at Cleveland Clinic.

A passion for ongoing development within surgery and Cardiothoracic/Vascular field, utilizing evidence-based practice, education, and in turn developing and training others.

Demonstrated skills in clinical decision making, clinical surgical skills, teaching, critical thinking, coaching, counselling, problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Ability to proactively identify opportunities for team and individual improvement, skills and knowledge development and engage staff in teaching and training.

Acting as a point of contact for Cardiothoracic surgery and services to optimize patient care.
