Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Safeguarding Children's Practitioner to join the Safeguarding Children's team here at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.  This job will be part-time 30 hours per week.

The post holder will assist the Named Nurse Safeguarding children to carry out operational responsibilities as set out in Working Together (2023) and the intercollegiate document (2019) in the application and development of the national safeguarding agenda across Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. They will support the Named Nurse in providing effective ‘Think Family’ advice, training, and safeguarding supervision.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the children’s safeguarding team to identify risks in management of vulnerable children, young people and families in accordance with the Trusts safeguarding children policy, to ensure appropriate action is taken in line with policy and procedure.

The post holder will use their specialist knowledge and experience in promoting continuity of care for children and young people by facilitating effective communication between the Acute Trust, Community Health Professionals, Children’s Social Care, General Practitioners and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

The post holder will assist in the development and delivery of training both single and multiagency forums, provide safeguarding children’s supervision and provide expert safeguarding advice where required.

To provide specialist knowledge, advice and support in safeguarding children to medical and nursing staff across the trust, so as to enable staff to exercise professional judgement within a framework of accountability.

To identify risks in management of vulnerable children, young people and families in accordance with the Trusts safeguarding children policy, to ensure appropriate action is taken in line with policy and procedure.

The post holder will be expected to display high levels of competence, judgement and integrity and personal accountability.
