Bognor ATS Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered mental health professional (Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) to be the team leader for the Bognor Assessment and Treatment Service. Our ATSs' have embarked on a transformation journey so the successful post holder will be central to these exciting and dynamic changes.

Bognor ATS is a well-established service with a culture of close Multi-Disciplinary Team Working. The team has a real focus on high quality care and staff wellbeing. We have done a lot of work on building strong relationships between the various specialisms in the team, including nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, pharmacy, psychiatrists and the local authorities' social services. The team has benefitted from embracing new roles and working closely with third sector services. We are really proud of the team and the work we do.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to provide visible leadership to the team and working closely with other senior clinical staff in the team in day to day clinical decision making to ensure the delivery of high-quality care for people who use our services. The role will involve providing supervision and appraisal to nursing and other staff where appropriate. The role will include working with a small case load of patients alongside your management of responsibilities. You will be required to demonstrate a high level of commitment, motivation and knowledge of working with people with complex needs and severe and enduring mental health problems

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and other agencies. Promoting care pathways, providing safe care and playing an active part in service development in line with the Community Transformation Model will be part of this role. This role will also include working closely with the Senior Administrator in ensuring key performance indicators are met.

Creativity is encouraged; recent examples include our dedicated duty worker role, Specialist Transition Practitioner role and monthly 'Learning from Serious Incidents' team meetings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible and provide effective leadership for the team providing a high quality service within the resources available and specifically to deliver on the following key areas:
Management of referrals including delivery of care
Performance monitoring and management
Line Management and supervision of staff.

 Ensure that a culture of effective risk management is present in the team
 To carry a clinical caseload as agreed with service manager and to take a lead on management of complex cases and supporting staff in management of such cases.
 To ensure that the team functions in line with the care group core business.
 To coordinate recruitment and selection of staff within the team, leading on decisions as designated by the service manager.
 To respond to SUIs as appropriate and support any subsequent investigation
 To respond to SVAs as appropriate
 To respond to complaints
 To respond to communications regarding team issues

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to minimum diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of CPD

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
  • Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
  • Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance
  • Experience of managing staff
