Job overview
We are looking for a Housekeeper to join our very friendly team on the Dialysis unit at Hollinswood House to assist in the smooth running of the unit by promoting a clean and healthy environment where our patients come in three times a week for their treatment.
You will prepare patients snacks and drinks. Order inpatient meals, serve food and assist patients with feeding as required.
You will be responsible for ensuring adequate stocks of kitchen consumables are maintained to meet service requirements and that all equipment within the department is clean and in good working order.
You will assist staff in the preparation of dialysis areas and in the disposal of dialysis consumables and waste.
Main duties of the job
- To assist in the smooth running of the Renal Unit by promoting a clean and healthy environment.
- To be responsible for ensuring adequate stocks of kitchen consumables are maintained to meet service requirements and that all equipment within the department is clean and in good working order.
- Assist staff in the preparation of dialysis areas and in the disposal of dialysis consumables and waste.
- Prepare patients snacks and drinks. Order inpatient meals, serve food and assist patients with feeding as required.
- Ensure supplies on the unit are well stocked and cleaning schedules adhered to.
- To assist in the transfer of equipment.
Working for our organisation
The Renal Unit is a busy outpatient area for patients with kidney failure coming in three times a week to go on a dialysis machine for 4 hours. It is very friendly team and you will get to know the patients very well as they attend so often. You will give out patient drinks, sandwiches and meals, keep the kitchen tidy and help on the unit to clean the beds and remake for the next patient session & remove and dispose of the rubbish and linen. It is essential we keep our unit as clean as possible for our vulnerable patient group and you will play a key part in that team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Maths and English grade 9 – 4 (A to C) or equivalent.
Good communication skills
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate effectively – written and verbal.
previous caring experience
Desirable criteria
- experience in caring / healthcare
Knowledge
Desirable criteria
- To have a basic knowledge of a hospital environment and infection control
- Knowledge of Oracle ordering system
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
