This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Glaucoma Service team as a Glaucoma Nurse Specialist within the specialty of Ophthalmology at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder must be highly motivated, have good communication skills, be adaptable to the changing needs of the srvice and be able to direct their own learning and the development of the Glaucoma Nurse Specialist Role, with support.
This is an opportunity to work in a large teaching hospital in a busy specialty and to play a key role in the development of the glaucoma service working with medical and allied health professionals with a varied caseload. The role will include participation in glaucoma review clinics, some of which will be nurse led, consent clinics, post-operative clincs, developing the existing phasing service, and patient support and education. Significant experience in ophthalmology is essential along with experience in an outpatient setting working with patients with glaucoma. Leadership experience and experience in role development would be advantageous.
The department supports the learning of student nurses and post graduate nurses, and plays a significant role in the training of post graduate medics and other health professionals and the post holder will be expected to contribute to this clinical teaching role.
A nursing or Health Care related degree is required along with post graduate education in ophthalmology. A willingness to complete the Non-Medical Prescribing Course is essential. The post will be full time in order to meet the demands of the role.
As part of our commitment to provide the best care to our patients, we will be running extended services to include evenings and weekends. As a member of the nursing and Glauma service team you will be expected to participate in the provision of these clinics.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to the post of Glaucoma Nurse Specialist to work in our growing glaucoma service. Applicants should have at least 5 years experience working in ophthalmology and at least two years experience working with glaucoma patients in an outpatient setting.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
