Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Liver

We have an exciting opportunity within our Gastroenterology Team for a Hepatology Advanced Practitioner.

We are looking for a full time Advanced Clinical Practitioner working Monday to Friday with no unsociable hours. The Hepatology team at Salford encompasses the Liver team, Hepatobiliary Team and Alcohol Care team.

The post holder will take a lead role in the advanced clinical assessment and treatment of patients with liver disease or those at high risk of developing liver disease. They will determine clinical diagnosis and treatments indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.   They will work closely with the Hepatology Consultant, Hepatobiliary and Alcohol Care Team.

They will manage hepatological elective work, including day case large volume paracentesis and Haemochromatsis. They will also provide outpatients general hepatology clinics and fixed site community clinics based around elastography technology (Fibroscan). The post holder will provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the service.  This will be done in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team approach.

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner you will:

  • Undertake a clinical caseload to an advanced professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.
  • Develop an extended scope of practice beyond their primary profession.
  • Independently Triage Referrals
  • Provide outpatient clinics both on Hospital site and one fixed base community.
  • The post holder will clinically manage a virtual cohort of patients with Haemochromatosis.
  • Offer clinical leadership and managerial support to the Hepatobiliary and Alcohol Care Teams.
  • Provide a day case elective large volume paracentesis service.
  • Undertake clinical audit and be involved in research opportunities.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months.                                                                                                                            

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
