Macmillan Gynaecology Oncology Associate Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated nurse to join our friendly Macmillan Gynae Oncology specialist nursing team. You will need to be flexible, a team player, and be able demonstrate a commitment to professional development and evidence based practice. As part of the team you will play an integral role in supporting gynaecological cancer patients throughout their cancer journey promoting clinical excellence and the ongoing development of the service. You will be part of the wider cancer team that supports patients from diagnosis to treatments across sites all sites at MFT including NMGH, St Mary's hospital, MRI. Withington hospital, Trafford General hospital & Wythenshawe hospital. If you feel ready to meet the challenges of this role this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. You will be supported by a team of experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Band 6 specialist nurse

To support the band 4  Macmillan Cancer Care Co ordinator to undertake comprehensive health needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate & formulating Personalised Cancer Care plans

Support  PIFU & PSFU clinics with others members of the Macmillan team 

Ensure Patients receive Treatment summaries post treatment

Asses, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patients’ needs.

Contribute to the organisation of multi-disciplinary, patient centred care.

Facilitate patients and carers to take an active role in care given

Responsible for assessing and recognising potential symptoms of disease or recurrence within Gynae Oncology specialty & escalate to appropriate clinicians.

To undertake and promote practice sensitive to the needs of the patients and families from multi-cultural backgrounds

Advise and support patients to manage their symptoms.

Attend Consultant/ACP led outpatient clinics, manage and report on cases (as appropriate to the role).

Communicate with clinicians/AHPs as necessary.

Contribute to and support the work of colleagues in the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Plan systems of nursing activity, which satisfy agreed standards at Local, Trust or National levels.

Partake in patient experience surveys & audits to improve patient care
