An exciting opportunity has arisen within our service for enthusiastic, flexible and motivated ITU Staff Nurses to join our friendly dynamic hard-working Staff Bank.
To deliver high quality, effective and compassionate individualised health care to all critically ill patients and their families. You will work as part of a team supporting and developing colleagues whilst contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the department. You will always role model the Trust CARES values.
You will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by using professional judgement and assuming responsibility and accountability for assessing, implementing and evaluating clinical care for patients to meet their needs in a safe caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect. The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the chosen speciality and will assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the ward/department within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Essential Criteria MUST have ITU experience.

Main duties of the job
- Work in accordance with NMC Code: Professional standards of behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates prioritising people, practicing effectively, preserving safety and promoting professionalism and trust
- Lead on assessing planning and implementing high quality care, and evaluating care options for patients in the clinical area, in line with the Trust values and objectives.
- Ensure the safe custody, maintenance and administration of medication, in accordance with established Trust policy
- Maintain a good understanding and implementation of clinical escalation procedures as required and provide sound evidence based clinical advice as required to staff and patients whilst maintaining the delivery of high quality end of life care in line with national pathways

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Be familiar with the Trust safeguarding polices and ensure that Safeguarding concerns are escalated promptly in line with trust policies.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with the Multi Disciplinary Team to ensure the delivery of high quality evidence based care.
- Promote and maintain patient safety at all times Maintain a safe working environment, including ensuring equipment is safe, and used in line with Trust policy and values.
- Have an awareness of current professional and clinical developments within their area of practice and promote this to others.
- Establish effective working relationships with other hospital departments and external agencies to facilitate safe and appropriate patient care using efficient and effective communication strategies.
- Ensure that nursing documentation related to patient care is in accordance with the ‘NMC Standards for records and record keeping’ requirements, and the legal and ethical framework e.g. data protection, confidentiality.
