Perinatal Mental Health Nurse

Band 6

A vacancy has occurred in the busy and developing perinatal mental health service in Milton Keynes. The team is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Band 6 mental health professional to help further develop the service and support the women who access it.

This is a permanent post and the role is full time, the team works Monday – Friday 0900 – 1700. The role will involve providing assessment and therapeutic interventions, caseload management as well as training and consultation within and beyond the team into the broader perinatal community.

The post holder will be integral to the continued development of the new service; ensuring clinical governance is maintained in all aspects of the service development. We are looking for a worker who has specialist assessment and excellent clinical skills in mental health and who has a passion for and ideally experience of working with service users and their families in the perinatal period.

Our work can be challenging & requires excellent risk management skills & a knowledge of safeguarding protocols ensuring a thoughtfulness of the unborn & other children in the family. The role will require extensive liaison with other professionals including Midwives, Health Visitors and Children’s Social Care.

The post holder will be required to be a car owner/driver as the role requires service users to be seen in their homes and other community settings.

The post holder will be required to work autonomously in the community and the team incorporates a trustwide Lone Worker Policy with local protocols.
