Depending on your preference, we offer a range of hospital and community-based rotations or a static hospital role at Queen Charlottes & Chelsea Hospital 

  • Antenatal (Clinic, Day Assessment, and Helpline)
  • Postnatal (Ward and Community)
  • Intrapartum
  • Specialist Teams (catering to vulnerable women and high risk pregnancies)

Main duties of the job

When applying please specify your hospital preference and if you have a specific area of interest that you would like to work within. We will try to accommodate your requests; however this may not always be possible.

 The 3 ‘must haves’ to be considered for this role:

  • Must have completed preceptorship year with NMC pin.
  • Must have signed off or be working towards competence in the following skills: cannulation, suturing and Intravenous Administration
  • Must have some experience of supervising student midwives, return to practise midwives or supernumerary midwives.

Person specification

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Midwifery degree or equivalent
  • Mentorship or full SSSA preparation
  • Registered Midwife (on NMC register)
Desirable criteria
  • NIPE/EON

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Completed 1 year post registration clinical experience working as an RM in the UK
  • Completed preceptorship course if applicable
Desirable criteria
  • Scrubbing in theatre
  • Worked within a continuity of carer pathway previously

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to be flexible
  • Knowledge of obstetric Emergency skills and drills and the ability to perform in an emergency situation
  • IV drugs administration and cannulation
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in quality improvement projects
  • Worked as shift leader
  • FSRH letter of competency for contraceptive implant insertion
