Clinical Research Nurse

Band 6

The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England employing around 9000 staff. It serves the communities of Bury, North Manchester, Oldham and Rochdale. Operating from 4 sites; Fairfield General Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital, The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

We are a high performing, safe organisation consistently delivering excellent patient care and experience; doing no harm. Our mission statement, "to provide the very best care for each patient on every occasion" is enshrined in our organisational values. Thus Quality Driven, Responsible & Compassionate.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research & Development Team at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and play a pivotal role in the delivery of new, potentially life changing, treatments to our patients. Our research activity has expanded considerably over recent years and we were highly commended for our “progressive research culture” at the HSJ Awards 2012 and a finalist again in 2014. We facilitate both commercial and non commercial research studies over a wide range of specialties, including cancer, diabetes, cardiology, rheumatology, paediatrics, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, and surgery.

With the support of a research team, you will assist in initiating and delivering new and existing studies, recruiting and supporting patients and their families whilst collecting and documenting data according to research governance standards and regulations.

You will be a registered nurse with substantial general clinical experience in the NHS acute setting and preferably some background in clinical research, although further training will be provided. If you are an effective communicator who can work well both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, and can demonstrate excellent attention to detail, we would love to hear from you.

This post is available either as a secondment or as a fixed term contract and is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in clinical research.

Your base will be Fairfield General Hospital although you will need a flexible working approach and the ability to travel across sites within the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

If you are applying for this post as a Secondment please ensure you have approval from your current line manager.

We reserve the right to close the online vacancy when we are in receipt of sufficient applications. Should you wish to apply for this post you are advised to complete and return your application form as soon as possible.
