Job overview

We are looking for proactive, eager to learn Nurses who want to develop the exceptional skills and knowledge required to care for critically ill patients in our Intensive/High Dependency Units.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract for external candidates or  12 month seconded post for internal candidates who wish to gain experience in critical care 

East Sussex Healthcare Trust has 2 Critical Care units:  We are currently recruiting for Conquest which comprises of 6 ITU & 5 HDU beds. There are plans to develop a new critical care unit and increase to 14 beds this year.

You will need to have the minimum of six months acute hospital experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse you will be responsible for providing individualised nursing care to critically ill patients as part of our multidisciplinary team. The care required reflects a holistic approach emphasising the unique and often complex needs of both the patient and their loved ones. We are very proud of our units who were both recognised as "Good" at our last CQC visit. We are striving for excellence at our next visit.

Our nurses are supported by a Practice Educator and  clinical skills facilitator. We provide an environment conducive to professional and personal development for all disciplines of staff.  In order to fulfil the job role, achieve the essential competencies and meet service needs, successful candidates will be required to work day and night 12-hour shifts on internal rotation.

  • Diploma or degree level study

Experience

  • Experience of working on general wards as a trained nurse or student.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience or involvement in research/audit projects.
