Job overview

At Dorset Healthcare we pride ourselves on the Dementia Health services we provide to our patients and their families. Older People's Organic Mental Health inpatient Services in Poole, Dorset are recruiting Registered Nurses (RMN, RGN or RNLD) for St Brelades Ward to continue the quality care we offer to our patients.

St Brelades Ward is a 17 bed assessment and treatment ward, which provides specialist care for a person with a Dementia and Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).

We are recruiting nurses who have strong leadership skills and experience of working with individuals with a dementia both, in physical and mental health settings. A good working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act is required, alongside excellent clinical skills.

We are looking for individuals who are motivated to make a real difference in dementia health. Passion and compassion are essential personal qualities for this role, along with excellent team-working, communication and assessment skills.

Successful applicants will be required to work shifts that include:

Early - 7.00 – 15.00 (with 30 minutes unpaid break)

Late - 15.00 – 21.00 (with 30 minutes unpaid break)

Nights – 20.30 – 07.30 (with 60 minutes unpaid break)

A comprehensive and structured induction programme upon commencing employment.

Main duties of the job

Assessment and Treatment of individuals with a Dementia.

Risk assessment and person centred care planning.

Leadership of shifts and acting as the nurse in charge in the absence of band 6 or above.

Providing clinical care to patients.

Liaison with carers and family.
