An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outpatient Departments at the Furness General Hospital  & Ulverston Community Health Centre for  Registered nurse (Adult) for a 16 hr post.  

You must be highly motivated, demonstrate a dedication to high quality care and be willing to work flexible to promote high standards and help to support us in improving patient experience and safety in Outpatients..

Main duties of the job

Training and support will be given to help with your development.

The hours will be worked flexibly over six days including some evenings and weekends. Previous experience in an outpatient or clinical setting is an advantage.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 1st level Registered Nurse
  • Willingness to undertake Teaching Qualification, Mentoring / Assessing qualification, NVQ
  • Assessors Award
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration clinical course appropriate to area
  • ECDL or equiv

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • Experience of establishing effective communication
  • Experience of implementing change
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within designated area
  • Experience of mentoring and assessing junior staff
  • Experience as shift team leader

Skills, ability and knowledge
