Job overview

The Cardiac Catheter Laboratories are an integral part of an ever-expanding cardiology service in Cornwall. 

 

We have an opportunity for a well-motivated and experienced individual to be at the forefront of this expansion by taking the responsibility of working closely with the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories team in our modern laboratories.  We are looking for someone with excellent communication and negotiating skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a small team.


You will have extensive experience and clinical knowledge in this environment, as well as some managerial and leadership experience.

 

You will be able to show evidence of continued professional development and of a commitment to innovation and change within a dynamic service.

Main duties of the job

 

  1. JOB PURPOSE

 To participate in invasive and non-invasive cardiac clinical procedures, providing  comprehensive clinical nursing expertise, ensuring the highest possible standard of nursing care

To assume responsibility for designated areas of work, as directed by the Head of Department, to optimise service efficiency, cost effectiveness and facilitate patient care

To supervise, guide, train and support junior staff in the performance of their duties

To support senior staff and promote multidisciplinary teamwork

To participate in an out of hours on call rota for the provision of  Percutaneus Coronary Intervention (PCI) and 24/7 Primary PCI service

To provide specialist advice to support and facilitate high quality individualised patient care.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a Cardiac Catheter Lab Environment
  • Teaching, supervision of students and staff
  • Experience of coordinating and managing patient care.
  • Decision making on matters directly affecting patient welfare.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of research and audit.
  • Previous experience of change management and problem solving.
  • Previous managerial experience.
  • Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registration
  • Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development within the speciality
  • In date Immediate Life Support Certificate
  • Locally assessed clinical skills and knowledge competencies
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Post Registration Cardiology Qualification
  • Teaching, assessing and mentoring qualification.
  • Advanced Life Support certification
  • 12 lead ECG and rhythm recognition
