Surgical Care Practitioner - Urology

Band 7

Band 7 - will look to appoint on Band 6 if not fully qualified.

An amazing opportunity has arisen an enthusiastic, forward thinking individual to join a team of advanced practitioners in urology. 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to progress and take a step into a new challenge as part of a well established team at the forefront of advanced practice. A person with advanced interpersonal and leadership skills, the ability to work with diverse range of professional groups and a high degree of professional autonomy (once trained). The team work closely within the medical team, and aim to support the consultant body, surgical trainees, and ultimately improve patient care within the Urology specialty. This will involve contributing to the review and diagnosis of various conditions, right through to discharge back to primary care. 

Although most work is carried out during normal working hours, the team contribute to a joint rota including weekends and some night shifts once fully qualified.

The role will involve a range of the following- 

First assisting for various surgical procedures including Robotics allowing surgical trainees to focus on their training

Contributing to ward rounds, post-operative reviews or emergency care

Contributing to the on call rota where required to support the medical team 

delivering planned diagnostic procedures and various clinics in urology, once trained to do so.

This programme aims to:

  • Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
