Job overview
This is a new post created to support the research team within the Emergency Department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The role is for 1 year, in the first instance, with a view to extending depending on finances and performance. You will be approachable, flexible and have excellent communication skills. The workload will be varied and include patient recruitment to observational clinical trials, admin support and data entry. You will need to possess the ability to organise and prioritise your own workload, meeting conflicting deadlines.
This post will provide foundation experience to build a career as a registered Clinical Trials Research Practitioner.
Main duties of the job
Under the direct supervision of Research Nurses, the research assistant will undertake all aspects of care for patients in clinical research studies such as: Obtaining informed consent for non-CTIMP studies. Conducting baseline and follow up visits as per study protocol. Collecting clinical and non-clinical data as per study protocol. Undertaking clinical procedures such as vital signs, ECG, height and weight Collecting, processing, labelling and storage of research samples. Providing on-going support to patients and volunteers with regards to their participation.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to A level/NVQ level 3 OR GCSE/BTEC with relevant previous clinical experience
Desirable criteria
- GCP training/Certification
Experience

- Experience of working in a busy
- environment or reception service
- Secretarial/administrative or clinical experience
- Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
- Working within guidelines
- Experience of dealing with difficult patient facing situations and confrontations
- Data entry experience and documentation
- Experience of IT packages, i.e. Microsoft office
Desirable criteria
- Previous clinical trials experience
- Previous experience of working in NHS
- Previous experience of working with EPIC
- Experience of MDT procedures
- Experience working within an Emergency Department
