Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit has commenced and is due to be completed 2017, and plans to extend the neonatal unit are underway.

A position has arisen within our dedicated team for Neonatal Nursing Sister. You will need to be an experienced Nurse qualified in specialty (ENB 405 or equivalent). You must have substantive experience post qualification in speciality. A teaching and assessing course is desirable, or the willingness to work towards.
We would encourage applications from Nurses with the necessary skills and the calibre to develop their role and undertake Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner training within 3 years.
We are one of two Local Neonatal Units within the busy Staffordshire, Shropshire and Black Country Newborn Network and actively participate in Network groups and business.

Our Neonatal unit has 15 cots, which is comprised of 2 intensive cots, 2 high dependency cots and 11 special care cots. Designated LNU, (Level 2) we provide excellent care for preterm babies from 28 weeks’ gestation and for sick new born babies. We provide stabilisation for babies at born at lower gestations prior to transfer to NICU

You will need to be RN qualified with significant experience of working in a neonatal unit plus the commitment and enthusiasm for working within this field. You will be joining a team who work a variety of shifts including internal rotation to night duty. Opportunities exist for personal development and staff are supported to undertake additional training as required.
You will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated multidisciplinary team working within a centre of excellence for neonatal care. These are highly challenging and rewarding roles within our exciting service.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
