Specialist Midwife - Perinatal M&M (Morbidity and Mortality) Coordinator
An exciting opportunity for a registered midwife to become the Perinatal M&M (Morbidity and Mortality) Coordinator at the Trust.
As the Band 7 lead they will responsible for leading patient safety reviews whilst providing compassionate support for families and staff involved.
This role will be a full time role with clinical shift to be in a clinical setting, this will ensure the post holder will maintain their midwifery competencies.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Maternity Directorate and alongside the wider multidisciplinary team to promote a culture of patient and staff safety.
To support the Senior Patient Safety Lead for Women’s services daily management of Patient Safety Incident and in the development and implementation of the clinical governance framework.
The post holder will lead on patient safety projects, for example PMRT and ATAIN and ensure evidence for corresponding CNST requirements.
The post holder will conduct thorough investigations which follow a systems learning approach and will ensure that patients and their carers/families, Trust staff and where appropriate, third parties are fully involved in the investigative process.
The post holder will be expected to work clinically e.g. in a clinical area, unit coordinating and to participate in the on-call rota.
The post holder will represent the department at local and Trust wide meetings as required.
The post holder will be working as a key member of a multi-professional team and it is therefore essential that the post holder possesses sound leadership and communication skills.
Working for our organisation
At the RBH we have a dedicated patient safety team specifically for women, birthing people and their families. To ensure families who have had a pregnancy loss or a baby/ies who was admitted to the Local Neonatal Unit (Buscot Ward) can be best supported and their safety reviews can happen seamlessly, we have developed the Perinatal M&M Coordinator role.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Band 6 midwife or Band 7 midwife who can demonstrate experience and passion in this area of care.
The Maternity unit deliver just under 5000 babies a year. The unit comprises of a delivery suite, midwife led birth centre, postnatal and antenatal wards, outpatients and Day Assessment Unit. We have a very successful home birth service, specialist teams to support vulnerable women and birthing people and continuity of care teams. We are strongly committed to developing our services and ensuring the those that work with us are given support and development opportunities.

EDUCATION
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- EducatedMentorship qualification/ENB997/or equivalent to a minimum of 1st degree level/able to demonstrate evidence that is working at degree level/commenced degree pathway
Desirable criteria
- Leadership/management qualification
Experience

- Significant recent experience in midwifery
- Must have recent experience at band6/7
- Detailed experience of leadership/management
