East London NHS Foundation Trust IS making a difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing them with much-needed mental health and community health care services and support.
Key to this is their commitment to help and support people, so they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives. They are successful at what we do but want to build and improve to provide the very best for their service users and carers. Their needs matter most and are at the heart of everything the Trust does.
Originally formed in 2000, we are recognised as a centre of excellence for innovation and improvement. Our extensive work in research and education has led to a number of pioneering health solutions, giving us a strong academic reputation.
Though first established as a mental health trust covering east London, the Trust now also delivers a range of specialist and community-based health services in Newham.
The Trust’s core area encompasses City of London, Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets. The population of around 750,000 is one of the most culturally diverse and the area one of the most deprived parts of the UK, presenting significant health challenges.
They also deliver essential services to a great many people beyond east London. They provide specialist mental health services in north east London, Hertfordshire and Essex, psychological therapies to Luton and Richmond, children and young people's speech and language therapy to Barnet, and our specialist mother and baby psychiatric unit receives referrals from across the south east. They operate from 64 community and inpatient sites, have over 735 general and specialist inpatient beds, employ 3,700 permanent staff and have an annual income of £259m.
